For October 2016 Tuscany Plein Air will take place in a beautifully restored, 13th century, Dominican building. It is situated along the Via Francigena or Lombard Way. Built to welcome and care for pilgrims from Canterbury England or France, en route to Rome and the Holy Land. The building continues to offer visitors accommodation and a warm welcome. It's restoration retains it's beautiful qualities without unneccessary modernisation and is well located for Plein Air painting, with truely beautiful rolling landscapes within a 15 minutes walk of the charming village of 'Osteria Nuova' with a local restaurant, bar, shop, churches and other facilities including very regular public transport to nearby Florence.
There are many beautiful vistas including views of Florence and designated hiking areas, nearby historic buildings, open fields, beautiful villas with their cyprus trees silhouetted against the sky. Rich vegetation, abundant wild plants, herbs and olive groves, all of which present many painting possibilities.
Because the house boasts a large garden you can begin painting as soon as the sun is up or just sit in comfort with your coffee watching the dawn from the balcony area. Views from the open balcony take in Florence and it connects to a rustic living area with high ceilings, where you can take a break between paintings.
The private rooms are designed to echo the simple rustic style of monastic life, with the comforts necessary to enjoy an undistracted artistic experience. There are no televisions and wifi is only available in the living areas.
The large gardens present many painting opportunities and sport views of Florence. For non painting partners, the museums, restaurants, social and cultural gems of the city of Firenze are within easy reach with regular, inexpensive public transport close to the villa and the abundant flora and fauna present opportunies for those interested in nature. Plenty of picnic areas and hiking trails make this a wonderful location to get away from it all while being in nature.
All meals are taken care of by the villa's chef and picnics are provided for day trips and long hikes.
